Lauren
R. Bamberger was born in York, Pennsylvania July 2, 1978. When she was just a month old her family moved to Lancaster, PA
where they lived for the next 15 years. Following that they spent almost three years in Carlisle, PA and moved to Little Compton,
Rhode Island when Lauren was 17. In 2005 she returned "home" to PA and lives in Adams County.
Lauren's
mother passed away in 2001 after her 3.5 year battle with cancer. Lauren donates a portion of the sales from every book in
her Kids First! Children's Books Series to cancer research and to helping cancer patients afford the treatments they deserve.
Often people ask an author where their stories come from. For Lauren it is from her life. Her first children's book,
"Amy's Goodbye," illustrated by Carolyn M. Reilly, comes from the struggle she had as a young child dealing with
her grandfather's illness and death. Her mother bought her books that dealt with those topics and Lauren found comfort on
the written page. It deepened her love for reading and writing and helped her deal with her own fears. She wanted to help
others through her words the way she was helped many years ago and that was why she shared her story for the book.
For her new book, "Morgan's Giraffe," she wanted to write a fun story that her cousin's children would enjoy so
she wrote it about them and with them in mind. Illustrator, Aardvark J. Decoy, even drew the characters to resemble her family.
In "Until They All Come Home," Lauren drew from her own experiences as she dealt with her brother's
absence in 2003 while he served in the United States Marine Corps during Operation Iraqi Freedom. During the time he was overseas
from Jan.-Jul. she also watched how the children of some of the Marines struggled and wanted to find a way to help them understand
and deal with the stress of their family member's absence. To give them hope and reassurance in what their loved one was doing.
From that came, "Until They All Came Home," a tribute to our brave men and women who serve their country every day
and for our fallen heroes. This is the first title in the new series, My Heroes! Children's Books.
Portions of
the proceeds of the books in the My Heroes! Children's Books Series will be donated to charities or organizations respective
to the books' topics. More info will be available after each book is released.
